Mission
Mission is the love of God at work in the world. As Christians we are called to respond to God's love for us and the world and to join in with God's mission. Here at the Methodist Church Chapeltown we live out our Christian faith through mission and service by supporting many projects. Mission includes serving our local community as well as reaching out with compassion and generosity nationally and globally. Here are some of the projects which we support.
3Generate
Once a year, our young children and youth leaders participate in 3Generate.
Taking place in the Birmingham NEC arena, the event encourages our younger members to explore their faith and develop leadership skills to help them grow in their fellowship.
Churches Together in Chapeltown
Throughout the year we come together with other churches in the area to share Christian events. These include Real Lives events, as well as, joint services at different times in Christian calendar, such as Christmas and Easter. Please see the What's On page for upcoming events.

Parson Cross Initiative Projects
The Parson Cross Initiave Project (PXI) began in 2010 as a project funded by the Methodist Church to outreach to those in the community. Working with other churches, local groups and others in and around the Parson Cross area, its aim is to provide support, sanctuary, social justice and inclusion for those living in the local areas of Parson Cross, Longley, Southey and Fox Hill. The Methodist Church Chapeltown contribute to the PXI by collecting donated food and donations are welcome all year round. For more information please visit Parson Cross Initiative Projects.
Sheffield Homeless Shoebox Appeal
This is a city wide charity we supported between 2015-2023. The aim was to provide the homeless people of Sheffield with a Christmas present, as well as equipping them with some essentials to make life a little easier. We appealed to the congregation and wider community to donate items for the shoeboxes. The boxes were then wrapped, filled and given to the appeal.
All We Can
The Methodist Church Chapeltown is an All We Can partner church. Throughout the year, we raise money for All We Can which connects with and supports communities across the world. Through the resources provided, which include worship and fundraising materials, we learn about the projects our money is contributing to. In recent years we have given to projects supporting farmers in Zimbabwe and communities affected by climate change. All We Can
Sponsored Move

Fairtrade
The Methodist Church Chapeltown is proud to be a Fairtrade Church. Refreshments that are Fairtrade products are served at church events and Fairtrade issues are promoted in our church.
JMA
The Methodist Church Chapeltown is proud to support JMA (Junior Mission for All). It aims to support churches both in the UK and abroad. This mission encourages our younger members of the congregation to contribute by collecting money and learning about how it can help other people. Money is collected in a JMA box and then brought into church when full. Once emptied and counted, the children can then take it home and start again. Each year the children find out how much money they have raised and how much we have raised as a church collectively. They then receive a certificate and rainbow badge. There is more information on the website JMA
Christian Aid
For many years the Methodist Church Chapeltown has supported Christian Aid. This organisation aims to end poverty and injustice throughout the world and works in partnership with local groups, governments and the private sector. Here at Chapeltown we support Christian Aid by collecting donations and holding events in Christian Aid week such as the Big Brekkie, where we enjoy a wonderful breakfast while giving to Christian Aid. Toilet Twinning
Members of the church's Youth Cell raised money to twin the toilets at church and the manse (church minister’s house) with toilets abroad. This process enables residents in some of the world's poorest countries to build toilets which will provide them with better hygiene and sanitation. The toilets within the Methodist Church Chapeltown are twinned with toilets that have been built in Chad. The toilets at the manse are twinned with toilets in Afghanistan. The photos below show the toilets we are twinned with and you can find their location on the maps below. Toilet Twinning

Southerton Methodist Church Roof - Zimbabwe
In 2016, Chapeltown Methodist Church made a generous gift to Southerton Methodist Church, Harare, Zimbabwe. This was to help replace the church roof. Southerton Methodist Church members had managed to build the Church using their own resources, a project that took almost 14 years. At the time, the members were worshipping under a temporary roof but thanks to the grant, the Church now has a completed roof. Members at Southerton are very grateful for the generous donation given by Chapeltown Methodist Church.
Kenya
In 2006 a group of 8 people travelled on a mission to Kenya. Before the trip they raised money and collected resources to donate to various projects. Whilst there, they visited a number of projects, churches, schools and a hospital in different parts of Kenya. They visited two or three projects a day, which was quite intensive, learning so much about the culture, the needs in each place and hearing personal stories. The group received incredible hospitality and friendly greetings which included dancing and singing a joyous welcome. The group was invited to meetings and given beautiful meals. On a subsequent visit, another member of the circuit returned to one of the rural schools included in the original trip. They were delighted to see more of the school had been built and that desks had been purchased with our donation.
